Your files never leave your machine.
DNM renames files locally on Windows. The naming engine, the previews, and the undo all run on your PC. No cloud, no AI, no uploads.
What stays on your machine, and what touches the internet
- The naming engine and Smart Suggest, deterministic and offline
- File previews for PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and images, rendered locally
- Optional OCR, run on your PC and used only as a hint
- Photo Meta Reader, read-only, it never edits or strips EXIF
- Recovery Vault undo, ZIP export, and activity logs
- Your files, your filenames, and their contents
- What you rename, when, and how, with no usage telemetry
- Trial or license activation and periodic verification, so your trial and license stay valid
- Update checks and downloads, so DNM can find and download newer builds when requested.
These licensing and update requests do not upload your files, filenames, or their contents.
Where your data lives, and how to remove it
DNM keeps its settings, your Naming Standards, and the Recovery Vault under your Windows app-data folder at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Falcrex\dnm\. It only reads and writes the folders you choose to work in.
Uninstalling DNM preserves your settings, naming standards, Recovery Vault and other local app data by default. To remove them, select the optional DNM-data deletion checkbox during uninstall. Export anything you want to keep before choosing deletion.
